FULL
DAY FULL DAY A scenic day touring the limestone White Peak area of the Peak District with its deep dales, underground caverns and fields edged with drystone walls. We visit the popular tourist centre of Castleton, overlooked by Mam Tor, the 'shivering mountain'. Beneath a ruined hilltop castle, the village is surrounded by underground showcaves, where semi-precious Blue John stone is mined. We continue to Ladybower Reservoir - Dambuster’s training ground - before returning over the famous Snake Pass. HALF DAY An extended half day to Bakewell, appreciated for its puddings that are still available in its bakeries throughout the town. |
