Holiday Itinerary

Welcome to exciting Las Vegas! After settling in at your hotel, explore the famous Las Vegas Strip, do some shopping or take a refreshing dip in the pool. Tonight, gather with your Travel Director and fellow adventurers at 6 p.m. for a Kick-Off Party at the hotel.(KP)

Hotel: Tropicana Las Vegas

Depart the glittering oasis of Sin City for the Valley of Fire, named for its red sandstone formations. This is Nevada's oldest and largest state park. Continue on to the gorgeous wonderland that is Zion National Park. Inside the park, marvel at the graceful slot canyons, towering cliffs and awe-inspiring monoliths, all carved out of the orange sandstone over the course of 200 million years. On to the Zion Canyon Giant Screen Theater to see the film Zion Canyon Treasure of the Gods. The theatre's screen is the largest in Utah and one of the largest in the world measuring 18 metres (60 feet) high and 24 metres (82 feet) across. After the film, enjoy dinner with your travelling companions.(FB D)

Hotel: BW Zion Park Inn

Take the entire day to immerse yourself in the beauty of Zion. Begin with a guided naturalist walk with a Local Expert, and be amazed at the otherworldly Zion Canyon. Later, enjoy time on your own to hike the park, wander trails or use the park shuttle to explore further. Stretch your legs on a leisurely stroll along the Virgin River up to the Temple of Sinawava to peek at the start of the Zion Narrows slot canyon or hike up to the three Emerald Pools. Spot some of the more than 200 species of birds that call the park home. Or join a park ranger on one of the many daily programs to learn more.(FB)

Leaving behind the splendour of Zion, head into the scenic area of Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park. A photographer's delight, the dunes of warm, pink sand is also a favourite place to ride off-road vehicles. Continue the journey into Bryce Canyon National Park, home to the world's largest concentration of hoodoos, those towering limestone spires that seem to rise majestically from the desert floor. From the rim of the amphitheatre, gaze down upon thousands of pink, orange and yellow pinnacles, the result of millions of years of erosion. You may even spot one of the park's bristlecone pines, the world's longest-living trees! This evening, gather with your travelling compadres for a Western dinner and show.(FB D)

Hotel: BW Bryce Canyon Grand Hotel

This morning, depart Bryce Canyon for the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, which spans eons of time and is a territory of multi-coloured cliffs, plateaus, mesas, buttes, pinnacles, and canyons. The tilted terraces of the Staircase step up in great technicolour cliffs of vermilion, white, gray and pink. Next visit Anasazi State Park, sheltering the ruins of an ancient Native American village, one of the largest Ancestral Puebloan communities found west of the Colorado River. Head to Torrey this evening, travelling scenic Highway 12, and wander the quaint town's shops and galleries.(FB)

Hotel: BW Capitol Reef Resort

Travelling through the heart of red rock country, arrive in Capitol Reef National Park. See cliffs, canyons, domes, and bridges in the Waterpocket Fold, a geologic monocline (a wrinkle on the earth) extending almost 100 miles (160 kilometres). The area has been a homeland to people for thousands of years. Petroglyphs etched in rock walls and painted pictographs remain as sacred remnants of the ancient Indians' saga. Then it's onward to Moab. You'll also see a naturalist presentation from a Local Expert on the ecology of the southwestern desert. Your hotel tonight is the Red Cliffs Lodge, an Authentic Accommodation. The ranch includes both the lodge and a museum, which documents the history of this hotel. In the late 40s the legendary John Ford discovered the rugged beauty of Moab's Canyonlands and filmed the first of many movies here. The first major motion pictures filmed in the Moab area were set on the Red Cliffs Ranch. End your day's journey with a cowboy cookout at the lodge. (FB D)

Hotel: Red Cliffs Lodge (First Class)

In magnificent Arches National Park, the wind and rain have eroded the sandstone into more than 2,000 natural arches; wander through a kaleidoscope of geologic time as you watch the morning light play upon the ancient, multi-coloured stone. Discover the destinations Canyonlands National Park has to offer. From scenic overlooks at the Island in the Sky, to the remote canyons of the Maze, to the thunderous rapids of Cataract Canyon, a lifetime of exploration awaits. Explore the shops and outfitters in Moab before returning to your lodge overlooking the river. If you're feeling adventurous this evening, take an optional jetboat ride along the Colorado River with dinner included.(FB)

Start the day with an exhilarating Hummer ride along the steep and slick rock climbing to the top of spectacular Moab overlooks. This off-road adventure is sure to create memories to last a lifetime. Enjoy the rest of the day on your own. Lounge by the river, play some horseshoes or take a hike. Horse-back ride along trails made famous by John Wayne. If you'd rather stay indoors, visit the on-site, award-winning winery for a tasting or browse the museum displaying early cowboy ranching and local movie memorabilia. Tonight, enjoy an exclusive Farewell Dinner where your host welcomes you at a sand beach along the Colorado River, with the fading sunlight framing towering red sandstone cliffs above.(FB FD)

This morning, say goodbye to your newfound friends and travel to Grand Junction where your journey comes to an end at the airport or extend your stay at Red Cliffs Lodge. Please do not schedule any flights before 1 p.m.(FB)
