Day 1 - UK/Paris
Your journey to France couldn’t be easier as you step aboard the Eurostar in London St Pancras this morning. In little more than two hours, you’ll be in the French Capital and heading to your hotel. Located on the River Seine, your base is in leafy Bougival, historically a popular destination of the Impressionist painters. The hotel is located on the outskirts of atmospheric Paris, which is home to countless art galleries, museums and iconic landmarks as well as traditional pavement cafés and sophisticated restaurants. Dinner is included at your hotel this evening.
Day 2 - Paris sightseeing
Today, we include a morning sightseeing tour of Paris in the company of your Tour Manager. We’ll introduce you to some of the highlights of this chic city where we will stop regularly for photo opportunities at sights such as the mighty Eiffel Tower, the world-famous Louvre which houses the illustrious Mona Lisa, and the Arc de Triomphe – the monument to Napolean’s 1805 victory at Austerlitz. You’ll also pass by the imposing Gothic cathedral of Notre Dame and the tree-lined Champs-Élysées. This afternoon you’ll have free time to linger over lunch in a typical Parisienne restaurant, if you wish, and to explore further at your own pace before returning to the hotel.
This evening, why not join our optional Paris By Night tour. In the evening Paris can be admired from an alternative perspective as the iconic sights, monuments and famous streets are illuminated. The 59-floor Montparnasse Tower is mainly occupied by offices but a restaurant and viewing deck – at the very top of the structure – are open for the public. From the viewing deck, you’ll be granted one of the finest views of Paris. Dinner is included in the city during your optional excursion.
Day 3 - Gardens of Versailles
Join your Tour Manager today for an included three-quarter day excursion to the magnificent formal gardens of the Palace of Versailles. This masterpiece of landscape design of the 17th century by André Le Nôtre offers an overwhelming feeling of grandeur where you can almost feel the presence of the kings, queens and courtiers who once walked the paths. The vast undertaking represents the height of French garden style and is a geometric design of terraces, paths, lawns, flowerbeds and bushes. Adorning them is an array of fountains which feature water cascading over statues, water sprays and themes from Greek and Roman mythology, designed to entertain guests at lavish royal parties.
Enjoy an included dinner back at the hotel this evening before heading to Montmartre, one of the capital’s most colourful neighbourhoods. Popular with artists throughout the centuries, Montmartre sits high above the city alongside the beautiful dome of the glorious Basilica of Sacré Coeur. As an officially designated historic district, the area has retained much of its charm and character. Evenings here are particularly special as the low light illuminates the quaint, winding streets and pretty squares.
Day 4 - Paris/UK
Your holiday comes to an end today as we transfer to the Gare Du Nord for the Eurostar back to London.
Please note: the running order of the itinerary may change depending on your departure date.
