Your Holiday Itinerary - Walking in Malta and Gozo
Day 1 - UK to Malta
You’ll fly to Malta today, transferring on arrival to picturesque St Paul’s Bay. Get to know your travelling companions during a tour of the area around your hotel and a drink before dinner.
Day 2 - Victoria Lines to Mdina and Valetta
Walk 10km/6 miles – 2.5 hours
We’ll journey by road to the Victoria Lines, fortified defensive walls that divide the island in two, for today’s walk. We’ll head to the artificial Chadwick Lakes then to ancient Mdina and Rabat, where there’s time for lunch. Next stop is Malta’s capital Valletta, where we’ll visit The Malta Experience, which tells the island’s 7,000-year history. After a horse-and-carriage ride to the Barrakka Gardens we'll see the saluting battery, when replica cannons are fired over the Grand Harbour.
Day 3 - Marsaxlokk and walk from Dingli Cliff to Blue Grotto
Walk 11km/7 miles – 2.5 hours
We head to the picturesque fishing town of Marsaxlokk and start our walk from Dingli Cliffs and on to the Blue Grotto caves.
This evening perhaps join our optional excursion to Mdina. We’ll then head to the village of Mgarr, where we’ll enjoy live music and a buffet dinner.
Day 4 - North West Coast walk and craft village
Walk 10km/5 miles – 2.5 hours
Today’s optional walk starts at the Red Tower. From here we’ll walk to Mellieha Bay and Popeye Village – built as the film set of the 1980 film starring Robin Williams. Golden Bay beach is our next stop, where we’ll enjoy a picnic lunch. Next we head to the Ta’Qali Crafts Village and Sliema for a harbour cruise.
Day 5 - Gozo
We continue to the island of Gozo. On a tour we’ll see the Ta Pinu Basilica and the village of Fontana, where lunch is included.
Day 6 - Walk from Victoria to salt pans
Walk 10km/6 miles – 2.5 hours
On today’s optional excursion we’ll discover Gozo’s capital Victoria. We’ll walk to Marsalforn to see the island’s rock-cut salt pans, then head to a vineyard, where lunch is served.
Day 7 - Walk to Calypso Cave
Walk 8km/5 miles – 2.5 hours
Our included walk takes us to the Ggantija Temples and the Calypso Cave. This evening we’ll gather for a farewell dinner and folklore show.
Day 8 - Gozo
We’ll return to Malta by ferry then fly back to the UK.
