Day 2 - New York

You'll get to see the iconic sights of New York on this morning's city tour. Highlights include Central Park, Fifth Avenue, Greenwich Village and Chinatown. You'll also see Wall Street, bustling Times Square and the sparkling Chrysler Building. Later there's time to explore at leisure or join one of our exciting optional excursions

Day 3 - The Adirondack train and Montreal

Today you'll take one of North America's most scenic rail journeys. From your seat on the Adirondack train take in views of the fall foliage, mountains, the famous Academy at West Point, the Hudson River Valley and more. Close to the Canadian border, the train skirts the edge of beautiful Lake Champlain before arriving in Montreal.

Day 4 - Montreal

We'll get our bearings on a sightseeing tour of Montreal this morning and see the impressive Notre Dame Cathedral. This afternoon you're free to do just as you please. You could perhaps explore more of the city's historic sites or take a stroll through some of the beautiful parks.

Day 5 - Quebec City

Today we'll drive into the heart of French Canada as we make our way to Quebec City. If you have a sweet tooth you'll be spoilt for choice at lunchtime – we'll be eating at a sugar shack, a place where sweet maple syrup is produced. We'll arrive in Quebec City in good time for you to head out and explore at your own pace.

Day 6 - Quebec City

Today's the day we transfer you to your ship, the Norwegian Dawn, for the start of your 7-night cruise.

Day 7 - At sea on board Norwegian Dawn

There's plenty of time to relax on board or join an optional shore excursion before we set sail this evening.

Day 9 - Sydney, Nova Scotia

You'll arrive in Sydney this morning where we recommend the optional excursion to Cape Breton Island. Prepare to experience one of the most dramatic drives in North America as you follow the Cabot Trail around the coast.

Day 10 - Halifax, Nova Scotia

Today the ship docks in Halifax, capital of Nova Scotia. The city has a rich maritime history, so head out and explore at your own pace. If you want to see beyond the city, there's an optional excursion along the coastal highway to the fishing village of Peggy's Cove. Here you'll see brightly coloured houses nestled close to the water's edge.

Day 11 - Saint John, New Brunswick

Saint John, on the Bay of Fundy, is today's port of call. How about an optional excursion to the fishing village of St Martins. Or maybe a visit to the old City Market, the longest running farmers' market in Canada – the choice is yours.

Day 12 - Bar Harbor, Maine

Your adventure continues in Bar Harbor, Maine. You've a free day here to explore the village and look out for wildlife in the wide blue bay. Acadia National Park is nearby, and if you choose to visit on an optional excursion, you'll travel along the 27-mile Park Loop Road past charming Victorian mansions. As the tour continues you'll gaze in awe at an incredible landscape of mountains, forest and coast. Be sure to look out for the wildlife too, you might spot whales, seals, peregrine falcons and more. Our holiday departing on 16 September 2018 will call at Portland in Maine today, not Bar Harbor/
