Guided Tour of Glencoe & Argyll

Look forward to a full day guided tour, enjoying commentary from a local guide telling you all about the region’s sights and history. Setting off from Dalmally, we travel via Tyndrum up to Glencoe – an unrivalled setting that has been the backdrop in movies such as The 39 Steps, Braveheart, Rob Roy and Skyfall. Here we stop at the Glencoe Visitor Centre where you can learn more about the haunting past of the glen and shop for souvenirs. After an included lunch, our route back to Dalmally takes us along the magnificent coast enjoying sights such as Castle Stalker.

Inveraray

Perhaps explore Inveraray Castle, a romantic fortress and the onetime ancestral seat of the Dukes of Argyll. This landmark features a fairytale façade and gorgeous gardens along with a captivating interior. Maybe you’d like to visit the award winning jail attraction where costumed characters portray prisoners from bygone days and act out trials and punishments! In the afternoon, we move on to the town’s Crarae Gardens. This exotic paradise of rocky gorges and wooden bridges was created in 1912 and features rare trees, unusual shrubs and vivid flowers sourced from China, Tibet and Nepal. Its twenty-five acres abound with an incredibly varied collection of plants as well as wildlife such as deer, woodpeckers and sparrow hawks. There is a visitor centre with plant salesand a café.

Oban

The pretty harbour town of Oban is blessed with some of Scotland’s most glorious scenery. The town bustles with life and its waterfront is busy with boats setting sail for the islands. There is a level esplanade that’s perfect for a stroll, and a whisky distillery by the sea. Head up to Pulpit Hill to experience impressive views across the Firth of Lorne.
