Day 1:
Local departure by coach or Home Connect service, then continue our journey through the night on our overnight express coach.
Day 2:
We continue through Italy to arrive in the spa town of Fiuggi for six nights. D
Day 3: Pompeii
Today you can join our fantastic included excursion to Pompeii, engulfed during the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD79, where the inhabitants of this small town were literally frozen in time. To make the most of your visit why not join our optional guided walking tour? Today, we see a remarkable excavation site and outdoor museum of the ancient Roman settlement, and we’ll be sure to visit this historic site during our holiday. This will provide an unprecedented opportunity to see how people lived two thousand years ago. Accompany your expert guide around the town, walking along roads with indents from the passing of chariot wheels and discovering the remains of homes, shops and public baths. B,D
Day 4: Rome
Known as the 'Eternal City' of the Roman Empire, Rome is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its historical centre. Rome has an immensely rich historical heritage and cosmopolitan atmosphere, making it one of the world’s most-visited capitals. Packed with historical attractions, and with something for absolutely everyone, we’re guaranteed to enjoy our time in this famous city. We’ll be able to enjoy free time to explore to our heart’s content, so we can see some of the city’s best-known attractions. Take the time to discover St. Peter’s Square, the Colosseum, the Sistine Chapel or Trevi Fountain, the choice is yours. B,D
Days 5: Sorrento
Sorrento, with its exquisite views out over the Bay of Naples and traditional architecture that’s synonymous with this part of Italy, makes for an excellent included excursion during our holiday. We enjoy a fantastic guided walking tour of the town, so we can find out more about what this location has to offer. If you wish to be introduced to all Sorrento has to offer then join our optional Taste of Sorrento excursion, where you can combine your visit to Sorrento with a guided walking tour of the town and a visit to a Limoncello factory. Limoncello is the signature lemon liqueur of the area, and our visit will include a short tour of the factory and orchard along with a sampling of this famous drink. B,D
Day 6: Herculaneum
In AD 79, the mighty Mount Vesuvius erupted and bathed the Roman city of Herculaneum in volcanic ash. Today, on our optional excursion, we explore this fascinating site, which was left undiscovered until the late-18th century. Similar to nearby Pompeii, Herculaneum provides an unprecedented opportunity to see how its people lived two thousand years ago. B,D
Days 7: Frascati and Castel Gandolfo
We journey through the scenic countryside on our optional excursion, to the town of Frascati, located to the south-east of Rome. Frascati is famous for its villas and also, the famous white wines. Whilst here, we include a short visit to a pergolato, where we can sample some of the local produce including snacks of porchetta, cheese, olives and wine. There will be free time to explore the town at your leisure before we continue towards Castel Gandolfo, on the shores of Lake Albano and home to the Pope’s summer residence. B,D
Day 8:
As our holiday draws to a close, we say goodbye to Fiuggi and will travel north through the night. B
