Holiday Itinerary - Cities of Eastern Canada

Day 1: UK - Toronto

Day 2: Toronto - Niagara Falls - Toronto

See Toronto’s major landmarks, including the banking district, City Hall, the CN Tower and Roger’s Stadium. Next, visit Niagara Falls. View the thundering waters from scenic points along the edge of the gorge, then take a sightseeing cruise for a closer (and wetter!) view.

Note: In the event of bad weather, the Niagara Cruise will be substituted for the Behind the Falls walk.

Day 3: Toronto - Kingston - Ivy Lea - Ottawa

Stop in historical Kingston before visiting Gananoque and Ivy Lea, where you’ll enjoy a scenic cruise along the St Lawrence river. Continue along the route of the Rideau Canal to Ottawa, Canada’s beautiful capital.

Day 4: Ottawa

Visit the Canadian Mint, the embassy district and stately Parliament Hill. Also, visit the Royal Canadian Mounted Police stables (subject to seasonal opening hours). Later, perhaps visit the Canadian Museum of History or the array of restaurants and shops at the lively Byward Market.

Day 5: Ottawa - Quebec City area

Drive into the French-Canadian province of Quebec and the magnificent UNESCO World Heritage listed Quebec City.

Day 6: Quebec City area

Enjoy a guided tour of Quebec City which is North America’s only walled city, crowned by the great turrets of the Chateau Frontenac. Old Quebec was the centre of New France and is now one of the most historic and best-preserved cities in North America. Within the walls are the Place d’Armes, the Laval Seminary and the star-plan Citadelle. See the stone houses crowding the narrow streets of Lower Town, ancient Place Royal by the St Lawrence river and the historic Plains of Abraham where General Wolfe stormed the slopes.

Day 7: Quebec City area - Montreal

This morning, why not take an optional excursion to Erabliere le Chemin du Roy Sugar Cabin for breakfast and a guided visit with a presentation about maple extraction? Afterwards, head south to cosmopolitan Montreal. Enjoy a guided sightseeing tour of the city that includes Old Montreal, the Seminary of St Sulpice, Mont Royal and modern Montreal.

Day 8: Montreal - Toronto

Visit Upper Canada Village (subject to availability), one of the largest and most complete living history museums in Canada. During your visit, you will be transported back in time to the 1860s. Afterwards travel back to Toronto, Ontario’s capital.

Day 9: Toronto - UK

Transfer to the airport for your flight to the UK.

Local guides

There’s no better way to get to the heart of a place and its people than by way of local introduction. We’ve sought out the most friendly and fascinating people to guide the way and bring you closer to the essence of the local culture.

Authentic experiences

It’s humbling to be invited to be part of a slightly more intimate display of cultural traditions and treasures, to get up close and watch artisans refine their work or musicians expressing something that captures the spirit of their home. From local Italian chefs to traditional farmers in Myanmar, we’ve met some unforgettable characters with unique skills and have woven them into our holidays so you can meet them too.
