Day 3 – Lake Maggiore
Our included excursion takes us to Lake Maggiore and the Borromean Islands. The islands lie at the centre of the lake and are fine examples of natural beauty enhanced by landscaped gardens and parks. We travel first to the town of Baveno from where a boat will take us past the famous Borromean Islands. We return to shore in the opulent resort town of Stresa where you will have time at leisure to explore the grand architecture and cosmopolitan atmosphere. B,L,D
Day 4 – Como Market and Lugano
We travel to the centre of Como town on our optional excursion. With a long history you can see many highlights from the town’s past including medieval walls, towers and streets and a cathedral that took almost 400 years to complete! Como produces 80% of Europe’s silk and there are many boutiques in the centre selling high quality silk merchandise. There is also the regular market, which takes place every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. We continue over the border into Switzerland and to the beautiful town of Lugano. Be sure to visit Via Nassa, one of the town’s historical streets and Lugano’s number one shopping destination. (B,L,D)
Day 5 – St. Moritz and Bernina Region Railway
Join our optional excursion to world famous resort of St. Moritz. After some free time to explore we board the Bernina Region Railway and cross one of the highest railroad lines in the Alps. We arrive in Tirano, a quaint Italian town, where we spend a short amount of free time before returning to our hotel. B,L,D
A ride on the Bernina Region Railway is highly recommended and extremely popular, therefore we recommend that this excursion is booked in advance. The cost is £41 per person. Please ask for details when booking this holiday.
Day 6 – Milan
A fantastic included excursion to beautiful Milan where there will be free time for you to explore the city that shares its title as one of the Fashion Capitals of the world with London, New York, Paris and Tokyo. To introduce you to the sights, why not join our optional sightseeing tour where you will discover the historical and artistic heart of Milan? Accompanied by our local guide we start by coach on a panoramic tour passing by the Monumental Cemetery, Porta Garibaldi and Corso di Porta Venezia. We stop at Via Verdi where we then continue on foot to La Scala Theatre, one of the world’s most famous opera houses (entrance included). We then continue to the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, a covered ouble arcade connecting Piazza della Scala to Piazza Duomo. Finally we conclude our tour with the magnificent Gothic-style Duomo, the seat of the Archbishop of Milan. B,L,D
Day 7 – Lake Como Cruise
Join today’s optional half-day excursion with a cruise on Lake Como, which will show you two of the loveliest villas and gardens of the area. After a visit to the beautiful gardens of Villa del Balbianello, we continue to Bellagio where there will be free time for you to explore. We return by boat to Cadenabbia, where we visit the beautiful Villa Carlotta in neighbouring Tremezzo (entrance included). After the visit, take a stroll along the lakeside back to the hotel. B,L,D
