Literally tons of mussels are consumed each year during the 2 day festive “Braderie de Lille” along with a 1/2 of beer. You can try this classic recipe for yourself at home, serve with French fries to be truly authentic.
Serves 4
Ingredients:
- 2 liters mussels from Bouchot
- 50 cl dry white wine
- 1 bunch of parsley
- 4 shallots
- 2 onions
- 2 celery sticks
- 1 clove of garlic
- thyme and bay leaves
- a knob of butter
Procedure:
- Clean and remove their beards.
- Peel the onions and shallots and chop them finely. Peel and crush the garlic.
- Pour the mussels, onions, shallots and garlic in a pot. Add celery and parsley after you have carefully washed them.
- Pour in the white wine.
- Cook over medium heat until the mussels have opened itself.
