Your Tour Itinerary - Norway: Fjords and Glaciers

Day 1 Oslo - Lillehammer

Cosmopolitan style meets natural beauty in Oslo, our starting point, but before we get too comfortable, it’s time to direct your eyes to our first stop: Lillehammer. In 1994 the world’s winter athletes gathered to bobsled and slalom their way across this snow-dusted town. Lunch is up to you, but dessert will be a guided tour of Maihaugen Open-air Museum – a sublime place to discover Norwegian life, then and now. Tonight, rest up and feast on a delicious welcome dinner at a local restaurant for our first meal together. (D)

Day 2 Lillehammer - Lom - Groti

From Lillehammer, we travel to Lom where we meet with one of Norway’s largest stave churches accompanied by flawless natural scenery. Later, we reach Grotli and enjoy a dinner together. (B,D)

Day 3 Grotli - Geiranger - Hellesylt - Girotli

After a delicious breakfast fit for a King, it’s time to prepare for an eventful day filled with jaw-dropping scenery. Weather permitting, we begin at Dalsnibba Summit, Europe’s highest fjord that promises as-far-as-the- eye-can-see views across UNESCO World Heritagelisted Geirangerfjord. After lunch, we take a closer look, cruising to the middle of the fjord to see the captivating Seven Sisters, Bridal Veil and Suitor waterfalls. By the end of the day, we’ll have sensational photos to share and compare. (B,L,D)

Day 4 Grotli - Fjaerland - Solvorn

Our adventure continues in Fjaerland, a village on the sublime Fjaerlandsfjord. The award-winning Norwegian Glacier Museum is next, with a fascinating insight into this region – from the ice age to today’s climate change challenges. Our day ends at Solvorn where tonights meal is a group affair. (B,D)

Day 5 Solvorn - Gudvangen - Flam - Myrdal - Voss - Bergen

Swapping our wheels for the water, we embark on a boat cruise to Flam. Then, we have a once-in-a-lifetime experience in store. We embark on the Flam Railway, one of the planet’s steepest and most spectacular train lines that runs through film-set-worthy scenery. At Myrdal, we switch to the scenic train that takes us to Voss and our day ends in Bergen. (B)

Day 6 Bergen - Oygargen - Bergen

On the menu today presents the opportunity to embark on a food tour of Bergen, followed by a visit to the Oygarden Aquaculture centre, visiting a Norwegian fish farm. Then, we return back to Bergen for a night at your own leisure. (B)

Day 7 Bergen - Oslo

Today, we rise early to reach Oslo where our tour comes full circle – but it’s not over yet. Take time to wander through Norway's capital and uncover the architectural gems scattered through the city. Preparing for our farewells tomorrow, we come together for our last meal. (B,L,D)

Day 8 – Oslo

After breakfast, we still have time for an in-depth tour of Oslo including a visit to the Viking Ship Museum before our tour ends around midday. (B)

Why Back-Roads Touring

On the vast majority of tours we travel by Mercedes or Mercedes Vito mini-coaches, equipped with comfortable seats, air-conditioning and large windows for enjoying the view. With the flexibility to go anywhere a car can, we take the smaller roads through beautiful scenery and get right to the heart of tiny villages and buzzing cities.
Along the way, your Tour Leader can offer intriguing insights about the views we see over the onboard PA system. And, with long drives kept to a minimum, you’ll have plenty of time to stretch your legs and explore sites for yourself.

Scenic back roads not motorways

Winding country lanes. Coastal beauty spots. Breathtaking mountain passes. With luxury mini-coaches that take us along scenic roads beyond the reach of large vehicles, the journey is as much a part of the adventure as the destination.

Authentic Local Experiences

Truly getting to know a destination means stepping off the typical tourist trail. From hidden-gem attractions to local favourites, we take time to seek out genuine experiences that take you to the heart of each spectacular region.

Culinary Discoveries

One of the most enjoyable ways to experience a different culture is to sample the cuisine. From visits to local producers to food and wine tastings and even cooking lessons, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to discover new flavours.

Boutique Hotels

Whether it’s a classic country inn or an elegant chateau, each day’s journey ends in a hotel with plenty of character. We opt for accommodation that reflects the personality of the local area, and fits right in with its surroundings.

Leisurely Paced Travel

Forget sunrise starts and long days hopping on and off the bus. We rarely leave before 8.30am and give each stop the attention it deserves – keeping long drives to a minimum. And giving you plenty of time to explore at your own pace.
