Itinerary - The Bernina Express and Venice - Simplon-Orient-Express to Venice
Day 1 - Venice Simplon-Orient-Express to Venice
Check in at London Victoria station for your journey on the British Pullman train, and be welcomed onboard by your steward who will show you to your seat. Enjoy a delectable lunch and a welcome cocktail the journey begins through the Kent countryside as you head towards the coast for the Channel crossing. Board a luxury coach for the short hop under the English Channel, before climbing aboard the striking carriages of the Venice Simplon-Orient Express in France. You will be shown to your private compartment and in the evening, you will be served a wonderful four course dinner. Retire to your cabin, now transformed into a cosy bedroom, for a good night's rest (Overnight on the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express) L, D
Day 2 - Venice
Breakfast is served in your compartment this morning as the journey continues through the Swiss Alps. Lunch will be served in one of the opulent restored restaurant cars before retiring to your compartment to watch the stunning scenery of the Italian Dolomites pass by. As the journey continues, afternoon tea will be served. The train will cross the Venetian Lagoon and then shortly arrive at Santa Lucia station, signalling the end of the journey and your arrival in the magical city of Venice. Day 3 - Venice
Begin exploring this romantic city full of history and culture. Enjoy a ride on a Gondola and admire the city's architecture from the water. Marvel at the Basilica in the Piazza San Marco, including its iconic Clock Tower. In the evening, why not treat yourself to a delicious lunch or dinner at one of the cities many traditional trattorias, spending blissful hours indulging with local Prosecco by the sparkling canals. Day 4 - Venice
After breakfast spend a full day discovering the gems of Venice with a small group tour of the ancient Doges Palace, then the priceless treasure that is the Golden Basilica. In the afternoon take a guided stroll through Venice's’ alleys, lanes and bridges with a local who can show you some of the secrets these narrow streets hold. In the evening feast on some seafood or perhaps watch the world go from the historic ‘Harrys Bar’; home of the Bellini. Overnight in Venice) B
Day 5 - Bernina Express to St Moritz
It's an early start from Venice to Milan and Tirano today, but the onwards connection onboard the world-famous Bernina Express is worth it. The famous red train will snake its way from the palm tree lined valley of Tirano and Poschiavo up through snow covered mountain peaks and over spectacular bridges and viaducts to St Moritz. Day 6 - St Moritz
Make use of your Engadin card today with a ride on the local funicular and cable-car to Piz Nair (May-Oct only). This mountain peak rewards all visitors with some spectacular views of Graubünden and beyond. If you’d rather simply relax and enjoy the town, spend some time strolling around the gorgeous lake or dining in one of the many restaurants. (Overnight in St. Moritz) B
Day 7 - Depart St Moritz
Check out of your hotel today and take the train from St. Moritz to Chur then on to Zurich for your flight back to the UK. B
