Coach Itinerary : Beautiful Bath & Mythical Stonehenge
Included Excursions
Stonehenge
After a leisurely morning and breakfast at the hotel, we set off in the early afternoon for one of England’s most iconic landmarks, the mysterious and awe-inspiring Stonehenge. Set on Salisbury Plain, this ancient stone circle has stood for over 5,000 years and continues to captivate visitors with its powerful presence and unanswered questions. Was it a temple, an astronomical calendar or a burial site?
As we wander the site at our own pace, take in the scale and setting of these remarkable stones and reflect on the people who built them. The visitor centre offers fascinating exhibitions, revealing the latest theories and discoveries, while a recreated Neolithic village brings the prehistoric world to life. With time to explore, reflect and soak in the atmosphere of this UNESCO World Heritage Site, our visit to Stonehenge promises to be a memorable highlight of the holiday and a moment of connection with Britain’s ancient past.
Bath
We head to the beautiful city of Bath, renowned for its timeless elegance and Georgian charm. No visit is complete without seeing the iconic Royal Crescent, a masterpiece of 18th-century architecture, and the heart of the city, where Bath Abbey stands beside the ancient Roman Baths. Included in our visit is a 90-minute open-top bus tour, offering a fantastic way to take in the city's highlights.
Optional
Our optional excursion takes us to two of the most picturesque villages in Somerset. Our first stop is located at the foot of the Mendip Hills. Wells, England’s smallest city, boasts a magnificent cathedral and the unique moated Bishop’s Palace, a medieval palace that has been home to the Bishops of Bath and Wells for 800 years. Also of interest are Vicars' Close, claimed to be the oldest complete medieval street in Europe, while the eclectic mix of buildings and narrow streets adds to the atmosphere here.
Next, we take a scenic drive through Cheddar Gorge on our way to our second village of the day, Cheddar. Our route weaves in and out of breathtaking scenery where tall, awe-inspiring cliffs dominate the landscape, like something out of a prehistoric kingdom. Later in Cheddar, we enjoy some time to peruse the many tea rooms, gift shops and of course the Cheddar Cheese Factory! Known as the origin of cheddar cheese, this popular food has been produced here since the 12
