Coach Itinerary

Included excursions

Belvoir Castle and Melton Mowbray (full day)

We start our day with a visit to Belvoir Castle, the ancestral home of the Duke of Rutland and home to the Manners family for the last five hundred years. Pronounced ‘Beaver Castle’, this impressive structure lies on the site of a historic castle, originally built after the Norman Conquest of 1066. Since then, it has been rebuilt at least three times and has made regular appearances on Netflix’s The Crown TV series, standing in for Windsor Castle.

Next, we travel to the rural and quintessential English town of Melton Mowbray. Be sure to pick up a pork pie at Ye Olde Pork Pie Shoppe and try it with a chutney while you wander through the town centre and marvel at the many fascinating historic buildings.

Stratford-upon-Avon and River Avon Cruise (full day)

Today we make our way to Stratford-upon-Avon, the idyllic birthplace of William Shakespeare, to enjoy a relaxing cruise along the River Avon. Afterwards, we have time at leisure to explore. There’s plenty to see, with many picturesque, thatched cottages and timber-frame houses throughout the town. Walk in The Bard’s footsteps, visit his birthplace or pay your respects at Holy Trinity Church, his final resting place.

Rutland Water Cruise and Stamford

Rutland Water is a large, horseshoe-shaped reservoir set within three thousand acres of beautiful English countryside. Here we enjoy a scenic cruise before we journey to the idyllic town of Stamford. Wander through the cobbled streets and discover the treasure trove of attractions, from All Saints Church, Barn Hill and the Stamford Art Centre to the relaxing beauty of Stamford Meadows.

En-route Visit - Market Bosworth

Following breakfast at the hotel, we check out and make our way to the pretty town of Market Bosworth. With its picturesque Georgian architecture and cobbled main square, it’s a lovely place to enjoy a stroll before tucking into a local treat in one of the charming cafés. The White Boar Inn is also worth a visit, where Richard III spent the night before the Battle of Bosworth, and you can learn more about the town’s role in the Wars of the Roses at the award-winning Bosworth Battlefield Visitor Centre.

Hotel facilities include a bar, restaurant and leisure club with indoor pool, sauna, steam room and gym (small charge applies).

Hotels with a JG3 rating tend to be a more formal style of hotel, often part of a hotel chain, or are very-welcoming family-owned properties. Generally, they offer a greater range of facilities and services, and bedrooms tend to be a little more spacious with additional features. Public areas are larger and include lounge seating, bar and restaurant with good quality food served either buffet style or waiter service.
