Old Goa Heritage Walk and Divar Island - on 16, 23, 30 holidays

On our heritage trail, discover the history of Old Goa and the multicultural heritage of Divar Island. Explore the former Portuguese capital of Velha Goa on a heritage walk and learn more about the fascinating history of Goa’s former Portuguese empire.

We visit some of the best churches in Asia, a Hindu temple site and a Baroque-style church and immerse ourselves in tales of various Catholic orders and revered saints before we enjoy a sumptuous Goan lunch at a heritage home or riverside resort.

Later, we journey to picturesque Divar Island. Known for its lush greenery, traditional Goan houses and tranquil environment, Divar Island offers a serene escape.

Saligao Village, Fort Aguada Port and Jail Complex Night Walk - on 16, 23, 30 holidays

We journey through vast swathes of paddy fields and lush countryside to find the idyllic North Goan village of Saligao. Lined with coconut palms and quaint houses, Saligao’s narrow streets can hardly contain the energy and vigour of its vibrant community. We find out more on our walking trail, as we explore the popular local sights and cultural delights, diving deep into stories of migration that have contributed to the village’s unique and harmonious social fabric.

Later, we venture to Fort Aguada Port, built by the Portuguese in the early 17^th century. The fort was constructed to guard against the Dutch and the Marathas and served as a crucial defence point for the Portuguese. Listen to our storyteller’s tales of its evolution from a bustling port to a lower fort to a prison facility and ultimately a heritage monument.

Immerse yourself in the rich historical narrative behind this iconic structure, which has been a witness to the passage of time and the fascinating stories it holds. Explore various sections of Fort Aguada, including exclusive access to a beautiful chapel, a freshwater spring, a former kitchen and the prison cells of the Aguada jail.

We receive an introduction to the 400-year-old monument under the night sky and unearth soul-stirring stories of the prison inmates and testimonies of its dramatic past.
