Day 1 - UK to Sardinia
Today, make your own way to the airport or be collected by our Private Chauffeur (if you've pre-booked) for your flight to Sardinia . On arrival, transfer to your hotel, where you can get to know your travelling companions over a welcome drink before dinner. During your stay we include one evening transfer into the centre of the town, where you can shop for souvenirs, enjoy a stroll around the walled Old Town, or maybe take a seat at a pavement café and watch the sun set over its ancient sandstone ramparts. Day 2 - Alghero
Today join your Tour Manager and Local Guide on a tour of Alghero. The town is known for the deep-red coral found off the nearby Riviera del Corallo coast. It is one of the few places where coral fishing, a tradition here that dates back to the 11th century, is allowed, though strictly regulated. During our tour we’ll also visit a coral factory to see how the polyps are crafted into beautiful pieces of jewellery.
Afterwards there’s time to enjoy lunch with your travelling companions if you wish. The rest of the day is free. Your hotel is surrounded by a large park and also boasts its own stretch of sandy beach. Leisure facilities include a swimming pool, tennis court, bowling green and mini golf range, so there’s plenty to keep you occupied if you decide to spend the afternoon here. B,L,D
Day 3 - Nuraghe Primavera
We include an excursion to the archaeological site of Nuraghe Palmavera today, which we will explore in the company of a Local Guide. The site dates back as far as 15th century BC and there's a host of ruins to explore, including a large meeting complex and two towers, one of which can be explored inside. We then visit the Wine Resort Azienda Agricola for a guided tour of the vineyard and olive groves, before sampling four wines accompanied by local produce including cold meats, cheeses, bread and olive oil. The afternoon is free to further explore at your leisure or perhaps head to the beach. B,L,D
Day 4 - Alghero - at leisure
You can spend a relaxing day in Alghero, or maybe you'll choose to join our optional excursion to the fascinating island of Asinara. The whole island is a National Park and protected marine area, home to several endangered species including the popular albino donkey. Discover this untouched landscape in a 4X4 vehicle with stops including an old prison and village. B.L,D
Day 5 - Alghero - at leisure
Alghero is one of Sardinia's prettiest coastal resorts and today has been left free for you to make your own discoveries. There is an optional morning excursion - a cruise in search of dolphins. There is also an optional afternoon tour to Neptune's Grotto, a large marine cave that was discovered by fishermen in the 18th century. Formed about two million years ago, there are rooms with astounding karst formations, a white sandy beach and a huge underground lake - a captivating gem of the Mediterranean. B,L,D
