This morning we include a boat cruise on the River Meuse from Maastricht to the Belgian city of Liege. On our return we pause at the three countries viewpoint where Belgium, Germany and Holland meet.

This morning to Maastricht with free time to explore this charismatic Dutch city before we continue to the white village of Thorn. Once a miniature principality, nowadays Thorn attracts visitors with the allure of its cobbled streets, beautiful church and characteristic white houses.

Into Germany and the Eifel Mountains to the picture-postcard town of Monschau, characterised by its half-timbered buildings in a steep-sided valley, overlooked by a medieval castle. Making our way back to Valkenburg we take time to visit the city of Aachen, situated close to the border and whose cathedral is one of the most famous monuments of Europe.

A full day excursion into Germany and a visit to the great German city of Cologne. Here there is free time to discover the many squares and streets of this vibrant city along with its majestic cathedral and the banks of the mighty Rhine flowing through the heart of the city.
